all i want

all i really want is a big wedge of king cake.

i'm even a little nostalgic for parades.

you know i'm homesick... that or reading poppy z. brite's incredible book 'liquor.' if you haven't read it yet, what is wrong with you? i think i'm going to go finish it right now.

Out here they call it Epiphany Bread, and although it's tasty, and has a baby, it's not nearly decadent enough (no frosting; bread not cinnamon roll).

Maybe next year when the bakeries are up and running ...

you know, if you have that letter-writing party, i'll bring a king cake- either order it online(Gambino's is still functional- they seem to have bakeries on the west bank, and Randazzo's is this bakery in Slidell) or i'll go crazy and try my hand at baking one. ?

Yes, it had colored sugar. The bread was heavily flavored with cardamom, which was kind of nice, but very different.

I will hold you to that sloppyd. Maybe the Feb 19th as a date? Mark it down. I am hosting knitting that afternoon, but it could easily become a knitting, letter writing, NOLA festing event! rachel, wanna make a trip out east?
