Once I wanted to be the greatest
I have never gone to see Cat Power in concert for the same reason that I never went to see Elliott Smith in concert: who wants to go to a show where you just find yourself embarassed and disgusted with a performer. I'm happy to learn that Chan Marshall (aka: Cat Power) has gotten help for what was clearly a problem. Here's to more albums of amazing music from her.

Thanks for posting the link to the NY Times piece; while it's sad to learn of her struggles, it's good to know she's on the mend. And a new album already finished? Can't wait to hear that. (The video interview was also pretty cool.)
I loved the video interview. She needs to write a book about her childhood and adolescent years.
And I hope that new album will be released this year... and another covers record? Can we be so lucky?
Same reason I never went to see The Pogues live. I was always afraid Shane McGowan would drop dead onthe stage in front of me.
"Can we be so lucky?"
No doubt. The more albums, the merrier, I say. I recently picked up "You Are Free" and can't stop listening to it.
Ahhh, I love "You Are Free." I got it the *day* it came out while finishing up my thesis. I was shocked I could buy it in Hanover, NH. That's when I knew she'd made it.
