just because you need to use it, doesn't mean you know how to use it
Eric Paulson of WWL TV (our CBS NOLA affiliate) reminded people that when you return home, please consider whether or not you know how to use a chainsaw before trying to do so. Same for a generator.
Good to know.
Good to know.

That's sort of precious. If a touch scary, to be sure.
Are your folks okay?
I heard from them last night and they were safe in Shreveport after a 13 hour drove out of NOLA. I heard from Gifford today and she is safe in Houston. I'm sure she will do some damage on the shopping scene.
Is there any way I can help? Like - I don't know - send blankets? Or is that dumb, since the weather there may not necessitate blankets.
Well - non-perishable food items? baked goods? After all, your mama did fed-ex a King Cake to me six years ago ...
Yes, Rachel, send blankets to NOLA in AUGUST~
Girl, you make me laugh. I love you.
There will be a time to help, but it isn't now. As Lauren Lastrapes said, "Why are you worried that you don't know how to respond to this? We don't know exactly what we are responding to?"
Yep - once a Yankee, always a Yankee (even in sunny SF). Blankets = good in a crisis. Always. NO I WILL NOT HEAR ARGUMENTS.
There are these surreal images of dolphins in a hotel pool on the Fox affiliate out here.
I LOVE THOSE DOLPHINS. That was hilariously bizarre. I swear, I feel like the end is coming.
It does have all the hallmarks of the end of days. We've got the wildfire season upon us (Napa County is on watch), y'all have the Noahic flooding ...
I'm sorry to be flippant - please tell me if the joking is inappropriate.
No. I need to laugh. You know what is inappropriate. It's all good.
NOLA will rebuild.
