upon leaving for July's vacation

I brought a couple books home today (see stack)
And this is the state of the cardigan in process.
Is it really this late?

Ah, Pnin. What an enjoyable read that is (not that any of the other books in your stack are less commendable or enjoyable, but Pnin is great). I have a cherished Everyman's Library edition, plunked next to Lolita in the same series. And that's enough Faulkner to keep even the most avid reader busy for a while. :)

Enjoy your 4th. From a similarly late moment on the west coast (about 12:20AM) --

I have so much to read and none of these books came with me to New England. The sweater is still unfinished, books also unfinished. But I caught up with five professor friends at Dartmouth, ran into an old friend with whom I lost touch with (but who had recently moved back to Hanover) and met new fascinating folks! And I even got to see my friends's son perform jazz at a martini bar. . . but the best part is that there is more vacation to come. Hope all is well on the West Coast!

Well, given the social accomplishments on your vacation (plus more vacation to go), I think unfinished reading is perfectly acceptable. Besides, I have to believe that unfinished reading is okay because all of my reading lately is unfinished. :)

Enjoy the rest of your stay there.
