Wish list

Hi everyone,

As you know almost everything I own was in NOLA. Due to the request of friends, I have made a wish list for myself on Amazon.com. This gave me something to do today. Most of the stuff are things that are now totally submerged in water. The newer things are items that I had on VHS and things that I would definitely make my day to have at a time like this. Some of the items are children's books. Some are albums full of memories. If you would like to get me something, it would make me a bit more sane. I understand this is a bit me-centric, but if you can even imagine what it's like to lose just about everything (including yr parents' wedding pictures, all of your childhood and baby pictures, all your high school and college pictures, most of your clothes and almost all of your artwork and sentimental items, not to mention furniture), a book or cd would mean a lot.

Thanks so much.

Hey. I don't know you from Adam, but I've been so moved by people like you, who I only know through blogs (as well as a couple of great friends), who have lost so much. I think that's the interesting thing about this whole blogging community thing.

Anyway, I just wanted you to know that I'm really glad that you made a wishlist. In fact, I think that places like Target, Amazon, etc, should all partner with FEMA to make wishlists for people like you and your family who will be needing the neccesities...blankets, dishes, etc. I'm sure there are people who have flood insurance, but I've heard tons of stories of people without...

Also, not at all me-centric.

Take care.

Thanks so much. It means so much to have support, even when you only know someone through the internet. I hope I can sift through and find things that people find interesting and can bring them to a larger audience. Keep talking and writing about it. Your kindness and compassion is what we need right now. Thank you.

Dude, it's no more me-centric than having a blog, which I personally do not find me-centric (being as how I have one ...)

But here's the thing - a bunch of the CDs you have on your list are also in my collection. I can burn them for you in short order, unless you'd rather have the actual albums (w/lyrics, etc). Just let me know.

That works. That *more* than works. I would be happy if you burned them for me if you could let me know which ones and then I can take them off the list.

The obvious ones are all the Indigo Girls albums :) as well as Jonatha Brooke & The Story (do you need Plumb as well as Angel In The House?).

I also have two Lorrie Moore books that I can't stand - would be ever so grateful to you for taking them off my hands! Hee hee, our literature tastes don't always overlap! Actually, I believe you were with me when I bought them (some Thanksgiving at Wordsworth in Harvard Square).

You make me wanna cry. We will make a trade.

I just wanna hear "Fast Car" on repeat. It always reminds me of driving in this one area of New Orleans.
