I've said it before and I will say it again; at the end of the world, I want Harry Lee on my side

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Harry Lee commandeers Sam's Wal-Mart stores
Sunday, 10:30 a.m.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Harry Lee said he has "commandered" the Sam's and Wal-Mart stores in the parish and ordered them to open as soon as possible.

Lee said he took the action after he learned that a Wal-Mart store wanted to open recently but was told by FEMA officials that it could not.

"I am upset with FEMA and some of their regulations," Lee said.

After talking about the situation concerning the Wal-Mart on Thursday, Lee said he briefly talked to Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-New Orleans on Friday. He asked her to check on the situation and find out if there was a legitimate reason to keep the store closed.

But because of communication difficulties, he did not hear back and took the situation in his own hands.

Lee said he gave handwritten notes to Wal-Mart stores in Harvey and Kenner saying they were ordered to open as soon as possible. Lee said Parish President Aaron Broussard agreed with the decision.

Lee said anyone from FEMA who tries to close either store will be arrested by deputies.

"We're encouraging the businesses to get up and going."

On other topics, Lee said he had 40 deputies who didn't report for duty for the storm. One who tried to return was told not to waste his time.

"As far as I am concerned (he) will never get a job in law enforcement again," Lee said.

Does the evil empire Wal-Mart still sell guns? No matter, they most certainly sell kitchen knives and baseball bats.

Gotta love the freedom to own guns!!! This isn't totally the Land of the Free but it's got its advantages. It's just a shame too many people screw up advantages like by blowing people away with guns. If anyone's anti-gun they also ought to be anti-baseball bat 'cause those can be used by people to kill people, too. So can cars. And box cutters... if anyone's anti-gun they sure as heck ought to be anti-car 'cause that can be used as a weapon. A car used as a weapon? Think about it if you're not quite sure. Step on the gas all the way down with someone directly in front of you. I'd say that would be murder and your car would be the weapon. Now if you're anti-gun and anti-baseball bat and anti-car, definitely ought to also be anti-box cutter 'cause even worse than using a car to murder someone a box cutter can be used to help turn a jetliner into a missile.

yes, yes, we surely ought to be anti-all those things in this here America. they can all be used as a weapon to kill from one person to almost 3,000. While we're being anti-stuff that can kill like guns, let's keep it going to be anti-shoes with shoelaces because shoelaces can be used to strangle a person. I am hereby calling on all Senators to see this through. In fact, why don't we all lock ourselves up in our own personal jails with no physical interaction at all because afterall, one's hands can be used as a deadly weapon, too.

Anti-guns to anti-hands. Anything that can kill we ought to be against.

Wait. That all makes no sense. It's not the object that can kill that is the problem. it's the person. Alrighty then - 5 day permit process to buy guns and shoes with shoelaces. Wait. That still leaves killers with hands.
